Science! Up-close and personal!
The North Museum has generated excitement and curiosity about natural history, science and technology for more than 50 years. Close to downtown Lancaster, the Museum features extensive collections and varied exhibits. From outer space to local Native American peoples, from rocks and minerals to dinosaurs, from the Living Animal Room to the Discovery Room, you can explore the diverse world of natural history and science. In addition, special programs and weekend events take place throughout the year.
While here, twist a 20-foot spiral wave machine, see how a tidal wave spreads across the Earth, play with a tornado, examine hundres of birds, or explore the galaxy in the planetarium.
The North Museum Planetarium will take you to the far reaches of the universe. The Technology Theater features the award winning ViewSpace system with downloads from the Space Telescope Science Institute. Linger to enjoy incredible images from the Hubble telescope and NASA missions.
The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm and is wheelchair accessible. A variety of souvenirs and science related gifts are available at the Northern Lights Gift shop.
Group tours are available Tuesday through Friday; advanced registration is required.
